The pasta that I had here was VERY good. Despite being extremely full, I finished my entire meal because I couldn't watch any of it go to waste. The service was a little bit slow initially, but it honestly added to the relaxed environment in the restaurant. We sat in the basement area which had a bit of a wine cellar and seating, and it was adorable. Also, well priced!

I could not recommend this place enough! It has amazing food! We got the Florentino steak, burrata crostinis and gnocchi filled with riccotta. All was incredible!! The owner gave us free melonchello shots after and it was the best thing we have ever drank! 10/10 please go here to have amazing food

You know when I picture a dinner date in Italy, I imagine a cute, little Italian restaurant with beautifully decorated flowers, classical music, and the smell of good food. I found that, but there is this one literally hole-in-the-wall restaurant that captured my surprise in a different way. This restaurant is called l'Mangiarino, located in Florence, Italy or the Duomo. One of the hardest things to do when traveling abroad is finding a restaurant that isn't a tourist trap. Thankfully, we found a local place!! Hidden away from ALL of the many, many restaurants that crowd the outside, cobbled streets. This place was isolated and alone, but inside wasn't lonely. Instead of the stereotypical display of flowers on the outside and a musician playing music, this place had the constant burst of delicious aromas escaping from its small entrance.
And we beat the dinner rush! We only had to wait about 20 minutes for a couple to finish up the rest of dinner and just after we were seated, multiple parties came. I love the small, fragile bench on the right and the random barrels. For some reason, in our hipster phase, this is such cute decoration (even though I doubt they were aiming for hipster). Once you walk inside, you can see a bunch of sausages tied up and hung from the walls and ceiling! Many wine bottles decorate the walls. And the food? Don't get me started.. Oops!
Ravioli al pecorino, noce e salvia - Pecorino cheese stuffed ravioli with goat cheese, walnuts, and sage sauce. It's as cheesy as it looks and even though it didn't look like much, it was so darn good! The texture and taste of the ravioli just immediately tells you that they were handmade! (As expected of a true local Italian restaurant). The crunchy walnuts contrasted with the soft, soft ravioli and the creamy sauce.
Tagliata di manzo con contorno di patate saltate - Sliced beef with potatoes. We couldn't get enough of steak! And in Florence, steak and potatoes is a common entree to be eaten by many! You would think that it's pasta and pizza? But don't forget the steak! Look at how perfectly medium-rare it is!! Now althought not as good as the ZaZa's FAMOUS T-bone Florentine steak (http://cookiecukie.com/2016/07/16/when-in-florence/), it is still very, very savory and delicious! The one key difference from this steak compared to all other steak restaurants is that this place slices it up for you! Yay! How convenient And the potatoes were onion-y and garlic-y. Yumm
Tiramisu. This may look like your typical tiramisu cake that you order anywhere, just anywhere, but don't let the picture fool you. I almost wish I could let all of you try a bite of this tiramisu because it is "hands-down" the SOFTEST tiramisu cake I have ever eaten! The reviews rave about this cake, and this cake was a must-order. Normally I don't order dessert at a restaurant that I eat, but the cake just totally blew my mind. Literally the softest and lightest and fluffiest cake ever! And perfectly, mildly sweet. How do they perfect such cake?! I wish I knew their secret..
Complimentary shots. How nice of them to give everyone at all the tables complimentary shots! These were slightly milky and fruity in nature and was an interesting drink to try! Otherwise, the service was very good. The staff was friendly. Our waiter actually noticed that our table was uneven and crooked. What did he do? He got a little stopper and put it at the bottom on one of the table legs to keep the table steady and still for us! Now that is what I call excellent service and attention to detail! You would only find this at the most finest of restaurants, but not here! Even a hole-in-the-wall restaurant has amazing service!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - David C.Lake Oswego, Stati Uniti635215 ott 2015
The place never disappointed us during our month in Italy. We ate here 4-5 times and were always happy with food and service.
Very fair priced and the menu is great for groups. Lots of choices. Papa is the chef and Nona is the baker. If you want great food near the Duomo this is your place. Rustic and relaxed.
Get a reservation for 4 or more.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle G.Marlboro Township, Stati Uniti2951091856 dic 2016

GREAT PLACE. Amazing little hole in the wall!!!
I swear that their caprese salad is the BEST I have ever had. It is unbelievably fresh. Plus they dirizzle this AMAZING salty, olive oil pesto mix all over it and it blew our minds. Like incredible food.
The ravioli and gnocchi are to die for. Homemade pasta and just incredibly good like WOW.
They have a great selection of red wines and the restaurant has a great authentic Italian vibe.
Service was great too. Highly recommend coming here! It was some of the best pasta I had while I was in Italy.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 10 mar 2015
First and the best meal we had while in Firenze. Even though we stayed four days in Florence, we did not dine out a lot despite the long walks around the city and mostly just grabbed a panini and over dozed on gelato.
I'Mangiarino has a rustic voodoo feel to it. Why do I say voodoo? Because the decor is all mismatch with rosaries and onion looking talismans hanging from the ceiling. Basically, any corner which seemed empty was filled with oddball items but that is what adds an extra charm to this place.
Its a small space which is a norm in most Florentine restaurants. They have a 'manager' looking waiter who goes from table to table and takes order in his tailored suit. Now if this is the guy who takes your order, be sure to make him repeat your order s-l-o-w-l-y because he is one forgetful guy. Oh God! The amount of times I had to beckon to him to remind him of an item he forgot about.
We started our meal with bruschetta and vino for my friend. It was a simple yet wholesome starter with fresh tomatoes, pesto and a generous amount of olive oil on toasted bread. Also, my friend really seemed to enjoy her wine.
Next came our pasta entrees; friend went with picci della casa and I went with the walnut ravioli. My friend loved her dish and as for me, well I waited a million years before I got mine (re: forgetful waiter). It was excellent though!
Since my entree came after waiting forever for it, I had room for dessert. Decided to go with the homemade chocolate cake and cappuccino. The cappuccino was good (I rarely found a fault with my cappuccino while in Italia) but the chocolate cake got replaced by a dark chocolate/orange torte (re: forgetful waiter). Anyhow, I did not complain because it was delicious!
Overall, a comically great start to our stay in Firenze :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Janesi D.Miami, Stati Uniti113216 giu 2019
Service was great. If you are looking for good home cooking this is your spot. Not touristy. Small family operated restaurant.

BAD MALE WAITER
Very good food and amazing wine, but non existing service. The male waiter was very interesting in other tablets with Italian guest.
Even though we, four person, ordered an extra bottle of expensive chainti Wine after the first course, it was first served after we have finish the main course. We have waited in 30 minutes and afsked two times. We ended up by refusing the wine.
If you decide to join that nice restaurant / vineria please ensure that it is one of the female waiters , who serves you. The smart guy is to smart for him self, he can´t manage it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
