The Watering Hole

What a pub....it is located right on the sand at Perranporth. Come and sip a local Cornish cider right on the sands with the most spectacular views of the vast expanse of beach here. We sampled a coffee and local Cornish ciders on draft which were lovely. Cosey wooden style modern pub with friendly staff. The location is unique and supreme. If you have dogs come and walk them on the beach and then stop for a pint..dogs are allowed.

The Watering Hole is a bar on Perranporth Beach that combines a large inside seating area with a positively huge outside one. The choice of drinks is extensive and includes many different lagers, some real ales and even Leffe (at a hefty UK 6.20 per pint). Sports events are covered by several flatscreen TVs spread within the bar. Since the view on Perranporth bay is glorious and the beach right next to it, this is the perfect place to have a drink or small meal with your family.

Ah The Watering Hole ! Where do i even begin with this gem of a place?

I only visit this place once a year and it never ever disappoints. As 30 members of the family descend upon Cornwall every year during the May Half-Term break, the one place we (the males of the group) look forward to visiting the most is without a doubt The Watering Hole.

At that time of the year the Cornish weather appears sub-tropical to the Northern weather we have been brought up to hate. So what better way to spend an afternoon than sitting outside at the UK's only beach bar after a day in the waves with a cold pint (okay a lot more than a pint) of Peroni?

The view is second to none & the bar has a relaxed, surfer atmosphere that wouldn't look out of place on a beach in Sydney. The pub grub is tremendous with a special mention to 'The Watering Hole Burger' which consists of anything you could possibly wish for.

If you ever find yourself down in Cornwall and fancy a day on the beach followed by a few drinks and some food, i couldn't recommend this place anymore. 6 weeks & counting until this years trip.

A pub on a beach is always at risk of being a victim of style and location over substance but once I had tasted the best pint of Betty Stogs that I have ever had (apart from the one I had at the brewery itself!) I was sold on the dream. Would have been even better if I could have actually seen the sea through the thick coastal mist!
The other beers on offer are the Cornish favourites; Tribute, Doom Bar and Cornish Coaster (in disguise, as it often is!). The prices are a bit steep, but they are entitled to be, given their unique location.
Oh and they do live music too. What an awesome place.

The Watering Hole is my favourite pub. And whenever im in Cornwall I really hope to make it here!


Its situated on the beach and very surfy, they have good food and drink and its a very relaxing place.


The sea views are fantastic as is the atmosphere and you feel very welcome..I LOVE IT!!!


Definately make the visit if you get the chance!

The Watering Hole is right in the middle of Perranporth beach and has a large bar and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, the place is half filled with sand because of the location.


Worth going in the winter for a hot chocolate or try the fish and chips, the fish is huge! They have live bands playing in the evenings pretty much throughout the year.


Only downpoint with this place is that it's the only one nearby on the beach, it's cornered the market and they know it, so expect to pay through the nose for drinks, foods not too badly priced, but then again the views fantastic watchingthe waves roll in.

One of my favourite bars in Britain. Can't top it for a late summer evening or for sheltering in a winter storm.


Beer is good, but expensive. The owners know how good the place is and make the most of it. What is a little sneaky is the way they bump up the prices at peak times of the year. Otherwise it'd havye got five stars.

The WAtering Hole is the best oub in Perran and one of the best in Cornwall. Situated right on Perranporth beach it has fantastic views accross the sands. You can either sit inside and watch live sports or sit outside and enjoy the views. obviously the watering hole is a summer pub. food is good too

I love this place. I have fantastic memories of watching the sun set with family and friends whilst listening to awesome music. This is one of my favourite places in the whole wide world! Also, next door to the watering hole is a take out so you can pop there and get a can of coke or some food for the beach.
