Not worth the hype.
Managed to pop in one morning when the place wasn't too busy. Tried the famous pancakes that were dead average. Riverview Kitchen a few minutes away do much better pancakes. Sampled one of their cakes which was way too sweet. The scrambled eggs on toast was unremarkable and expensive.
The ambiance is cringy and the whole vibe super contrived. Even though there were plenty of open tables, the waitstaff made us feel pressured to rush through our meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carlos G.East Side, Vancouver, Canada33122 nov 2019
Best coffee in town, also the food is so delicious. I'm absolutely coming back again. I tried eggs royal because I'm a salmon lover and it was so good.
El mejor café de la ciudad, además que la comida es muy deliciosa. Estoy muy seguro que volveré. Yo probé los egg royal porque amo el salmón y estaban riquísimos.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robert C.Sunderland, Regno Unito5504616 gen 2016Recensione aggiornata
We tried this latest addition to the Flat White empire and really enjoyed it. Snuggled between two other eateries on lovely old Saddler Street this is a cool place for a light lunch or just a quick snack and a hot beverage. The stripped back decor is in keeping with the Flat White oeuvre yet the place is warm and cosy.
For tea lovers like me it is a godsend as even their basic breakfast brew is excellent - served in a little cast iron pot. They have all the usual coffee variations of course for those of you that way inclined. I had a delicious date and oat slice which is well worth trying.
The staff are quite excellent; young, polite and super efficient. Service is quick. The prices are very reasonable too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 017 ago 2015Recensione precedenteI really like this place. It's a nicely done coffee shop chain that manages to find unique little locations to ply its wares. This one is tucked tightly away off Elvet Bridge in a little back lane in a tiny shop.
Inside the shop it's cosy and rough edges with a tiny serving area filled with bright you g student types who are always friendly and give great service.
Tea is served in lovely little cast iron teapots and it's pretty good. As a non-coffee drinker it's always good to find tea served properly and not just a supermarket tea bag chucked into a pot of hot water.
We sat outside on a lovely sunny Sunday morning and watched the world go by for an hour munching scones. - Katie B.Oxford, Regno Unito1985371917 ott 2016
Their baked eggs with parmesan, ricotta, swiss chard (and sourdough toast on the side) was one of the best things I've eaten yet this year.
Never have I written a review so short. But that's all there is to say.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sira D.Durham, Regno Unito101128 gen 2011Primo recensore
In the interest of full disclosure, I did know the guys who own this place before I went in.
It is lovely, though! Small, but really beautifully decorated and the coffees are delicious. Only a few weeks after opening, the place was very busy on the afternoon that I visited. I didn't try the cakes, but looked enviously at the people who were. They looked amazing! I think this is likely to become the new hot coffee place in Durham.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Simon H.Glasgow, Regno Unito405715521 ago 2013
This is a lovely quiet little tea shop set back from the bustle of Elvet Bridge. Simple menus and friendly staff and a nice outdoor seating area. I've not sampled the food other than 'simply toast' so I guess I will have to come back again!

We stop in here whenever we can for some of the best barista-made coffee in Durham. It's a wonderful little shop small but cosy and full of good smells. Don't look at the cakes if you're on a diet!
My husband is one of the fussiest coffee-drinkers I know, and he has given Flat White his seal of approval!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ruth C.Cheltenham, Regno Unito117211 ago 2016
A popular and stylish cafe by the river. We popped by on a Thursday and had a short wait for a table. Staff were great, a great tempting brunch/lunch menu, and loved the decor. The apple and blackberry pancakes with almond crumble were delicious and a very generous portion. The various other brunch options chosen by other patrons also looked fab. Would definitely recommend and go again.
